What is the Custom Form URL Builder (CFURLB)?
The CFURLB is a tool that allows you to customise the Contact form according to your campaign needs. Once you've created your URL you can add it to your landing pages and/or emails, as you would any other URL. The main thing to remember is that you need to ensure that you copy and paste the full URL that is created for you, otherwise the Contact form won't work correctly nor will it submit all the details that you fill in.
There are 4 sections to the CFURLB:
Section 1: Enter your details
Providing your details means that an email can be sent to you so that you have a record of your URL.
Section 2: Specify your form type
By choosing what type of form you're creating, it means that the tool can be tailored to that form type. That way, you only fill in the fields that are relevant to your needs.
Find out what each field means below:
The tool allows you to create a new URL or edit an existing URL. To edit a new URL, just drop the full URL into the field that appears and hit 'EDIT FORM'. Then all the fields will be pre-filled with the information you originally filled in.
NOTE: If you're using a legacy URL (a URL for the old contact form) there might be information mssing from the fields, so you will have to re-enter this, and you may need to select or enter information into fields that didn't previously exist in version 1.0 of the CFURLB.
Once you select your choice, the tool will be tailored to that choice.
Lead Generation: Data from Lead Gen forms goes to Eloqua and routes the customer's details to Salesforce for a Medtronic Rep to contact them. On the contact form, the customer will have the option to select to be contacted via email or phone.
Non-Lead Generation: Data from Non-Lead Gen forms only goes as far as Eloqua and is often used when marketing a product. In this instance there will be no option for the customer to select to be contacted by a Medtronic Rep.
Webinar Registration: The data from this type of form also only goes as far as Eloqua as this type of form doesn't tend to be lead gen.
By default, the products list should be visible to the customer as we're required to show them which products have been pre-selected for them. However, there may be exceptional circumstances where you need the products list to be hidden. For a rare occassion, it's possible to do so, however, you will still need to select a product. This is because product areas are linked to email groups in Eloqua, and for a customer to remain a contact in Eloqua (for GDPR purposes) they have to be assigned to an email group and also consent to this. Therefore, if the products list is hidden an automatic Form Submission Consent Statement – containing which preference area has been selected – will be added to your form for the customer to read before hitting SUBMIT.
Section 3: Build your custom form URL
Once you've chosen what type of form you're creating you will start to fill in the details. This is also split into sections:
What the customer doesn't see – These fields are hidden from the customer and are used to submit data to Eloqua (and SFDC) in relation to your campaign.
The Form ID could be the name of your campaign. The Form ID is a unique identifier for your form, therefore, if you are creating multiple custom forms for the same campaign, make sure this value is unique for each form. The formID cannot include spaces or any special characters except for underscores and hyphens.
When you choose a language, the form will automatically be translated into that language. However, you will need to write the Form Title and the Form Description in the language you choose, as this will not automatically be translated.
This is found in Eloqua when you create your shared List.
If your campaign is a lead-generating campaign, you will get your SFDC Campaign ID from Salesforce. It will look like the following example, 7011r000001Dvph. If your campaign is not a lead-generating campaign you will not need to fill out this field.
Select the option based on the type of campaign you are running.
Web: Default, Linked to from Medtronic.com
Email Marketing: Used on Eloqua or 3rd party emails
Congress: Congress app or link from Congress promotions
Google Adwords: Linked to from Paid Search campaign
Social Media: Linked to from Social Media (paid or organic), or direct Lead Gen application on LinkedIn or Facebook
IRCAD Training: Used when setting up as a feedback form for the IRCAD training courses
This should be your Campaign name as created with the Naming Convention Tool. Please do not use any special characters other than underscores.
This is currently only used when the form type is a eStore Registration.
A 3 or 4 digit ID is required, please do not use URLs as they will not work. You can use the default ID, which is 3589. Unlike before there is only one default thank you page which gets translated based on the language you choose. However, if you have your own thank you page, you can use that instead.
This would be an ID of an email that you want to send a contact as soon as they submit your form.
CMPID is the Code added to the end of Medtronic URLs when linked to from Email, Social Media, Paid Search, Banner Advertising any other 3rd party media that allows us to track traffic generated from that specific tactic.
What the customer sees – Details written into these fields will be visible to the customer
This is the title that customer will see when they land on your form.
You can use the description to tell users anything. This text will be displayed below the title.
Section 4: Check that your values are correct
Before you hit 'GET YOUR URL' give the information you wrote a once-over to make sure that it's all correct. If you need to make any changes you can hit 'MAKE CHANGES' and edit anything that needs adjusting. All information in this step (apart from your personal details) will make up your URL.
